Dent de Crolles by SvenMueller Dent de Crolles by SvenMueller
There's a longer story about the accoutrements of this photo - if you're interested then read it - I'm sure you will enjoy it. ;) I arrived the bottom of 'Dent de Crolles' on midday past one of my most beautiful drives which was along 'Lac d'Annecy' and through this countryside there on a beautiful summer day. It was the first day of my trip and my destination was to hike up 'Dent de Crolles'. At two-thirds the height meter I realized that something of my backpack has loosened so I turned to the side - my brand-new sleeping bag was attached at the top of my backpack - and saw my sleeping bag rolling down slowly the flank of the mountain right next to me. I thought "no ... you need to bring back" (I thought it will stop by itself). Then it became faster and faster and began to bounce so I thought "oh, he's rolling that fast - don't think it will stop". :D Then, like in a funny movie, it jumped over a cliff and was out of field of view. Everyone who knows me would think now I would start freaking out - even myself - but I only sat down - exhausted - and started to eat and drink something. ;P I asked myself why the world hates me and decided to hate the world then. :D I talked to some people and started hiking all the way down - accompanied by dark thoughts. Past an hour I crawled to kneel at the edge of a large valley which is situated right next to the mountain to have a look into but there was nothing visible. Had I have to descend into the valley that it would have taken several hours but then I realized something tiny on the mountain edge and used my telephoto lens and zoomed in via live view. Here you can take a look at the photos that I have taken there:… That little green point looked like my sleeping bag! I searched by my eyes for a way to get there - I would certainly have fell down when I was climbing along the mountain edge. Then I saw a very narrow path in the middle of the edge of the canyon and walked this very careful. I was not even 20 meters away from a sleeping bag, which hung in a tiny thorn bush. I sat down there and started laughing, smiling and being happy that much! The world doesn't hate me anymore. :D So my sleeping bag fell down - don't know - 200 difference in altitude without any damage and I got it back. Thanks! :thanks:

So I had no desire to hike up to 'Dent de Crolles' again and chose to hike up the mountain beside - 'Roc d'Arguille' ;)
